Meat Shower of 1876 - Yes really

In 1876 a woman was caught in an inexplicable and sudden shower of meat.
It became national headlines for weeks and remained in newspapers for years due to scientific debate.
This was obviously a comm at the time, but today it exists more like a brain teaser for the comms aware.
That’s why in modern times it’s discussed in context of "inexplicable mysteries".
If you want to try it yourself you can, otherwise I’ll bluntly explain it momentarily.
It wasn’t difficult to solve, but it was difficult to prove.
Often the correct answer for any major comm is simply to reconcile the nearest most famous event.
It works a shockingly high percentage of the time.
And while this isn’t a "major comm" today, it was then!
The literal meat was examined by scientists in leading publications across the country for months.
That one witness chalked it up to "God’s mysterious ways"
Which is how one might describe comms networks tied to the church pulling a stunt like this to send a message.
I’m going to go through a few of the little hints in this puzzle article before I give the blunt answer.
The first is that the only weather phenomenon of note to this "rain of meat" was
Clue 1: "A light wind coming from the west."
The next clue is that the meat was declared by a physician to be UNDEVELOPED LUNG TISSUE FROM AN INFANT.

Reconcile with Clue 1.
Define WIND in relation to LUNG. And then ask, why an infant?
I’m sure most people would be able to get it by now just by reconciling the date of March 1876.
However even if you solve it already, there is a good reason to dig a little deeper. Stuff like this with high confidence is wonderful to study to get a strong foundation.
The next clue is the location.

All mystified as to how the meat could have arrived from the sky!
The final clue is the thing itself.
Clue 4: MEAT ARRIVING BY WIND ATTRACTING NEIGHBORS.
And it becomes a hotly debated scientific wonder for months in major science publications?
All eagerly awaiting the "meat" to examine and study.
What were they really studying?
There are more clues I could give like how it was ENOUGH TO FILL A HORSE WAGON.
Or the activity she was engaged in.
Mary was MAKING SOAP IN BATH COUNTY.

You have to remember the context of the time.
Telephones would be akin to magic, and so the idea of someone suddenly able to talk to someone at long distance?

Animals as symbols for comms agents versus regular humans.
"Enough meet to fill a horse wagon" = PEOPLE VISITING.
The story begins with Mary the wife of "Allen" making "Soap" = A CLEAN WAY to communicate.
Versus meeting people directly. A revolutionary thing at the time for obvious reasons.
Allen is sometimes used as an "alien" comm, which phones would radically change networks.
