Notion AI is "a connected assistant that helps you think bigger, work faster, and augments your creativity, right inside the functional workspace you’re already familiar with." Built on Open AI’s GPT-3 platform, it brings together the general benefits of AI with the familiar environment of Notion.

This article is written for anyone who is already using Notion. Its goal is to open your mind, enlarge your vision, and sensitize you to new ways Notion AI can benefit your life and work projects. Some of the prompts will surprise you with the results.

As you'll see, there is A LOT you can do with Notion AI.

All prompts are highlighted as quotations. My two pennies are in a commentary below each of the prompts. As you read, I encourage you to try out each of these prompts in your own Notion space. Get creative and adjust the prompts.

1 — Populate tables with sample data

Create a simple table listing 15 European capital cities arranged from the one with the highest population.

Did you know you can use Notion AI to do the manual heavylifting for you? This prompt shows how Notion AI can help you populate tables with relevant data, saving you heaps of time. Instead of doing things manually, you can have Notion AI do it for you!

Add a column for ‘Notable landmarks’ in each city.

You can expand your table by requesting that a new element be added. The possibilities you could use these are endless. Use this prompt to make your research easier. This prompt can be useful, whether you're researching the busiest airports and number of passengers in the USA, average rainfall in cities in China, or the most visited cities in Latin America.

2 — Create comparison tables

Create a table comparing the nutritional values of kale, spinach, and lettuce.

Notion AI can populate tables with relevant data so you don't need to do it manually. But did you know it can also compare sets of data? What if you're trying to compare three specific parameters of competing products you're interested in buying (e.g. a car, website builder, e-commerce platforms)? Notion can help! Instead of comparing data values on your own, ask Notion AI to do it for you.

3 — Brainstorm ideas for your product

Give me a few ideas for features of my dieting mobile app. The goal is to increase retention and reduce onboarding time. The app is supposed to remind the user when it’s time to eat and help count calories.

In order to make sound decisions when developing a business or product idea, you want to do profound brainstorming. It's something Notion AI can definitely help you with. When writing a prompt, make sure to make it specific enough and don't forget to include the goals the product should meet. The more precise and concrete you are, the better the results. This type of prompt can be especially helpful when you need to ideate fast (e.g. at hackathons) or when you're under time pressure.

4 — Develop a business plan

Provide a clear outline of goals, target audience, and unique selling proposition for my mobile banking product aimed at teaching European teenagers and young adults financial literacy. The plan should be easy to read and understand, and should be tailored to respect the regulations of the financial market in the EU.

This prompt shows how you can use Notion AI for developing not just a business plan. But really, you can use it to tailor any sort of plan. Again, incorporate as much detail and granularity into the prompt as possible. Are you going on holiday in Spain? Or are you planning to work on your portfolio? Or build a garden shed? Develop a plan with Notion AI.

5 — Learn from the best

Analyse Abraham Lincoln's life and create a table with rules inspired by his lifestory, use in business, and use in personal life. Include a column where you'll explain the psychology behind each rule and indicate which moments his life these rules were applied in.

Notion AI can be helpful when diving deep into a topic that interests you. Is there someone you admire in life? Is there a company whose success you want to imitate? A book that changed your life and you want to know how to put its lessons in practice? Use Notion AI for the research to unblock your mind and think outside the box. Replace Abraham Lincoln with Pixar, Christopher Nolan, Steve Jobs, or John Steinbeck. See how you can apply in your life what the giants have done well. Happy exploring.

6 — Gather unique perspectives

{Topic}. Write multiple perspectives from a group with different viewpoints. For each perspective, write in their own voice, using phrases a person would use.

Here's one: "What are the biggest problems digital agencies face?" Or another one: "The challenges of having a cat." What is the hot topic that robs you of sleep? What problem are you grappling with? Before making sense of a topic, you'll do well to gather unique perspectives. Your decision-making process will be more thorough and you'll feel comfortable with your decisions.

7 — Create deadlines for projects

I am a fintech content designer and I want to work on my portfolio. Write a daily schedule for the work on my personal portfolio website with a 3 week timeline and a deadline on August 20. Give me ideas and framework on how to complete the project faster.

All of us have projects in our backlog. Some are easier to work on, others are more challenging and we just keep rolling them ahead of us. Other projects may be easy to start, but difficult to finish. Are you trying to start your own podcast, improve your French, or learn a new song on a ukulele? Would you like to participate in a fitness tournament or design and build a custom piece of furniture? Great! Ask Notion AI to help you create a plan and then execute it. Using AI can make even difficult projects look easy.

That's it! Use artificial intelligence to collect and organize data, learn from the best and create feasible, time-bound projects. Leverage the power of AI for your benefit. Start now and let the results surprise you.
