Camden Toy Dies: ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ & ‘Angel’ Actor Was 68
Camden Toy, the actor best known for playing memorable vampires and demons on The WB’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, died Monday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, according to his official Facebook page. He was 68.
Toy appeared in the Season 4 Buffy episode "Hush" as one of the demonic Gentlemen. He played the skin-eating demon Gnarl in Season 7’s "Same Time, Same Place." He also recurred as a primordial Turok-Han vampire.

On Angel, Toy played the ancient, Nosferatu-like vampire The Prince of Lies in the WWII-themed flashbacks of Season 5’s "Why We Fight."
Toy was also a series regular on Goodnight Burbank and played Igor Chambers on the Peacock web series The Bay.
On the big screen, the actor appeared in dozens of productions, most recently Average Joe in 2019.
His partner, Bea Henderson, wrote about Toy’s deteriorating condition on Facebook last week:
"He was diagnosed in February last year after months of mysterious pain. For many reasons we were very hopeful for, at least, a longer and more fruitful time on planet Earth. Even the more recent challenges felt more like a hiccup in progress. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ve reached the end of the road with the doctor’s treatments. His condition has declined a lot in the last 2 months and tremendously in the last several days."
Among the responses is one from Guillermo del Toro collaborator Doug Jones, who worked alongside Toy as one of the Gentlemen on Buffy.
"This is a tough one," Jones said. "So many memories including working together, decades of laughing, sharing mutual friends, get togethers, travel, conventions, and huggles with each other and our fans.
"To know Camden Toy was to Love Camden Toy. We may have met on the set of Buffy as two hideous looking ‘Gentlemen,’ but that only sparked a dear friendship that would continue for twenty-four years.
"It’s rare to find a man so joyful, smiley, smart, talented, giggly, huggie, good at listening with his heart, and accessible always to anyone he knew, including his many fans.
"May he rest in God’s peace."

I had work with Camden Toy on the series the BAY for several seasons. He was such light and a creative genius and actor. One of my first scenes with him I played Father Leone officiating a Garrett wedding, He was dressed in a wedding gown and we they revealed that it was Camden underneath the veil everyone was in shock. But a good shock. He was a wonderful performer. Sending light and prayers to his family and loved ones.
