• What's happening?

  Welcome to the first-ever Cards Against Humanity Short Film Festival! Last July, we announced the festival and hundreds of professional filmmakers sent us their most bizarre, hilarious, or otherwise incredible short films. We exhaustively whittled them down to 10 incredible finalists, and now you — the viewers — get to decide who wins our $100,000 grand prize and $10,000 second prize.

• What are the films like?

  They’re mostly funny, some are pretty emotional, and a couple are really weird, but we love them all. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and question the nature of your reality.

• Are there any famous people?

  You might recognize a couple of faces.

• Is Jeremy Renner in the movies?

  No, these shorts are certified 100% Renner-free.

• How do I watch?

  Yep. Fun fact: Target offers same-day delivery to most places in the US. If you live outside the US, you can buy a standalone streaming ticket.

• I’ve purchased my ticket and I’m watching the films. When do I get to vote?

  You'll be able to vote after you’ve watched all 10 films. Each time you finish a film, it’ll get a yellow check mark. But if you don't finish a film or try to skip through it, then it won’t get that yellow check, and you won’t be able to vote on who the $100,000 winner should be.

• I have to watch all of the films before I can vote?

  Listen, we’re not prying your eyes open with clamps and forcing you to watch our festival while Beethoven’s Ninth plays on repeat. But if you want to vote for the best film, you need to actually watch all of them. Otherwise it would be unfair!

• How long is the total runtime of the festival?

  Exactly the right length for a movie night: 105 minutes.

• Are there closed captions or subtitles?

  Every film has full closed captions available in English.

• How do I watch on my TV?

  It’s easy! First, load up watch.cahfest.com on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Then, if you’re an Apple user, you can use Airplay to put the video on your smart TV or Apple TV. If you’re an Android user, try Chromecast. If you’re on a Windows PC, try these instructions. If you’re old-school, break out the HDMI cable. If none of this makes sense, ask your grandkids.

• Any content warnings I should know about?

  "The Breakthrough" has a bit of violence, "Ex Creta" has cartoon poop, and "Noodles Forever" opens on a car hitting a small dog (there’s no blood or gore). That’s pretty much it.

• How long do I have to watch the movies?

  Your ticket will give you access to watch the films all the way until the end of 2024. But the deadline to vote for the $100,000 winner is 11:59 PM PT on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

• Can I watch the movies more than once?

  Yes, you can use your ticket to log in and watch the movies as many times as you want, over and over again, even after you vote.

• So, why a short film festival?

  Short films are scrappy. They’re laboratories where cool new ideas get tried out for the first time. They’re made on the cheap by small teams of artists instead of committees of committees with billion-dollar marketing budgets. Short films don’t have a natural home on Netflix or HBOGoGoNowMax or whatever, and we wanted to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming filmmakers who are doing interesting work.

• How do I pick which film should win?

  That’s up to you. Don’t worry, you’re only making or breaking someone’s career as a filmmaker.

• Are you going to do this every year now?

  Who knows? God willing, we’ll all meet again in CAH Short Film Festival 2: The Search For More Money.
